Enchanting Winter Wedding Ideas

The Color Scheme

When we think of a winter wedding, we automatically think snowflakes, red, and green. While overdoing these colors may seem rational for the holiday season, you might end up with more of a holiday party rather than a love story.

Try This: Instead of overdoing the holiday colors, switch your color palette to silver, white, and crystal accents. For the ceremony, try a white aisle runner.

The Flowers

Red roses, calla lilies, and amaryllis are usually the go to flowers for winter weddings, but there are other unique winter bloomers that would add a lovely winter wonderland touch to your wedding.

Try This: Consider fuller flowers, such as white hydrangeas. Add sparkle to your bouquet by wrapping the stems in ribbon embellished with crystals.

The Centerpieces

Go beyond candles and regular floral centerpieces to add warmth and romance to your venue.

Try This: Bring the winter outdoors inside with ice-carved vases. Ask the florist to put tall branches mixed with tall flowers in water. Hang crystals from the branches for an extravagant winter look.

The Cake

Wedding cakes normally have flower decorations; think outside the box for your winter wedding.

Try This: Play up the season with a white, vintage-style cake, dusted with edible silver powder. For accents, have your baker add a white sugar ribbon and crystal drops cascading down one side of the cake.

Seating Cards

Names on cards are the go-to seating ideas for weddings. Come up with something more creative.

Try This: Pinecones painted with snowy white tips are ideal card holders for your winter wedding. Plus, it’s an easy DIY project for brides that want to leave their own personal touch on the reception.

Candy Bar

Rather than setting up a candy bar, think of something everyone enjoys in the winter.

Try This: Set up a hot cocoa bar for guests to indulge in before the ceremony starts. It’s the perfect wintry detail to remind friends and family of your season while still keeping them comfortable.
