If you’re searching for the perfect wedding jewelry for your wedding, you have almost endless options. Of course, there are always the bridal jewelry classics we see trending every wedding season. Traditional pieces like white diamond studs, drop diamond earrings, diamond pendants, pearl earrings, and pearl necklaces are always top choices. But then, each year, we see some unique trends dominating the season.

Wondering which jewelry trends are dominating this wedding season? We’re here to fill you in! In this post, we’ll take a closer look at the top trending bridal jewelry accessories of the wedding season.

Black Diamonds and Dark Jewelry

Dark, bold jewelry has always been a popular choice for fall and winter weddings, as has dark wedding decor. However, we’re seeing more and more modern brides incorporate dark jewelry into their bridal look on their big day. This wedding jewelry trend is likely happening because of another big bridal trend: black diamond jewelry. This year, we’ve seen a huge surge in the popularity of black diamond engagement rings and black diamond wedding rings.

So why are so many brides gravitating toward black diamonds for their engagement rings, wedding bands, and their other bridal jewelry? There’s a lot to love about these deep, mysterious gems. They have beautiful depth, they’re incredibly unique, and they have the same lovely meaning as white diamonds. On top of all that, they’re much more affordable than white diamonds (even though they’re actually more rare!).

Dark jewelry, such as black diamond jewelry, can add beautiful dimension to your bridal look. One of our favorite ways to to wear black diamonds in your wedding day look is to opt for a rose gold setting. Rose gold, with its blushing pink hue, is inherently romantic. So it will add an instant dash of romance to any piece of rich black diamond jewelry. The black diamond and rose gold pendant pictured above provides a perfect example of just how beautiful these two luxe elements can look together. Yellow gold also looks lovely with black diamonds, as it adds a warm, traditional touch to the distinctive black diamond.

“Something Blue” Jewelry

Right now, there are two overarching, dominant bridal jewelry trends: highly unique jewelry and highly traditional jewelry. While the first trend on our list, dark jewelry, falls squarely into the unique category, this next trend, blue jewelry, is for those leaning toward the traditional.

If you’re in wedding planning mode, you’ve probably heard the phrase, “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue” thrown around quite a bit. This phrase comes from an Old English rhyme detailing the four lucky objects a bride should wear on her wedding day. According to legend, wearing something old (like an heirloom piece) protects against the Evil Eye and protects the bride’s future children. Then, wearing something new provides future luck. Wearing something borrowed (ideally, from someone who is happily married) helps you catch a bit of someone else’s good luck. And finally, since blue is associated with love, purity, and fidelity, wearing something blue is thought to bring luck to your marriage.

As traditional bridal jewelry has risen in popularity, so has blue bridal jewelry. If you want to check off your “something blue” box, blue jewelry is one of the most beautiful ways to do it.

You actually have two different gemstone options for blue wedding jewelry. The most traditional type of blue bridal jewelry is blue sapphire jewelry (blue sapphire pendants are a favorite of ours in this category, since they work with so many different wedding gown necklines!). Blue sapphires have long been thought to represent love, purity, and fidelity— just like the color blue itself.

Then, there’s the blue diamond jewelry option. Blue diamonds are more brilliant than blue sapphires, so they’re a great option if you’re looking for a touch of blue, without sacrificing in the shimmer department. Blue diamonds look lovely in pendant necklaces, choker necklaces, bangles, diamond rings, statement earrings, chandelier earrings, drop earrings, hoop earrings, or simply when worn in delicate, chic studs. They also add a touch of whimsy and fairytale-esque romance to headpieces such as tiaras.

Fashion Studs

Stud earrings are a classic jewelry option that many brides opt for for their wedding. While solitaire diamond studs are always a popular bridal option, this year we’re seeing another style of stud trend: fashion studs.

Fashion studs have always been a popular choice for bridesmaid jewelry (and bridesmaid gifts). But more and more brides are opting to go with fashion studs for their own wedding day look. This is because fashion studs give you the opportunity to infuse more of your personal style into your bridal style. If you love the modern look, you can go with a graphic, bold pair of studs. If you’re a romantic at heart, you can choose studs that boast a floral-inspired design, like the studs pictured above.

The key to incorporating this trend into your bridal accessories is to follow your heart— and to make sure your studs are still luxe. If you’ve gone all out with your wedding dress, you probably won’t want to wear just any studs with your gown. But, luckily, there are many fashionable, unique studs that are crafted from luxurious materials. Ear Jackets

Ear jackets are another unique earring option that’s trending for brides. This style of earring consists of two separate pieces: a stud and a drop accent piece that hugs the bottom of your ear. This earring style is also sometimes called a “front back” earring. This is because the stud rests on the front of your ear, while the second “drop” part of the earring rests behind your ear.

Front back earrings have actually been trending for a couple of years. But brides are finally starting to incorporate this ultra unique earring style into their bridal looks.

There are many different types of front back earrings you can choose from for your bridal look. If you love a bit of drama, go for a more oversized pair, like the beautiful sunburst earrings pictured above. Or, you can go for a more romantic style. Many front back earrings incorporate floral or nature-inspired elements, which can add a touch of whimsical beauty to your bridal accessories.
